Town Hall
The Ayuntamiento or town hall building, which was built in neoclassical style and dated back to 1865, was starting to suffer from different cracks and generalised deterioration problems. Because of this, the decision was made to demolish it, and in 1976, a new one was built by architect Fernando de Higueras. Its architectural style, which currently dominates the Plaza Mayor, was surprising due to its neo-Gothic-inspired aesthetics, as its façade is topped off by pinnacles and a slanted roof.
